Bureau Veritas is seeking motivated young geoscientists with BS/BSc degree to work as Geologist/ microscopist.

Responsibilities:

Routine and complex sample preparation

Analyze building materials using microscopy

Data review and interpretation with no assistance

Writing and reviewing SOPs and STPs

Data entry

QA investigations with no assistance

Assist with log-in and client services

Experience in general laboratory techniques

Instrument/analytical problem solving and process improvement

Working independently and giving insight on problem solving

Company procedures and policies adhered to

On-going participation in laboratory skills inventory

Turnaround times achieved

Keeps abreast of current and new methods

Statistical analyses on quality control samples to assure compliance

Quality and quantity of work meets laboratory benchmarks

Education and Requirements:

  • BA/BS in geology or related field of study with 1-2 years of laboratory experience; analytical environment.
  • Experience in polarized light microscopy analyzing asbestos is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to interact with clients and staff, detail oriented, time management with good organization, strong verbal and written skills, ability to work independently and in a team environment, capable of making sound decisions quickly and effectively, ability to handle multiple projects, and knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in chemistry or related science field with 3-5 years of experience, preferably in polarized light microscopy analyzing asbestos.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to interact with clients and all levels of staff, detail oriented, time management with good organization, strong verbal and written skills, ability to work independently and in a team environment, capable of making sound decisions quickly and effectively, ability to handle multiple projects, and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
